AUG 2021 UPDATE:
We are very sad that our Regatta Day, on the 30th, will not be going ahead but our main priority is to keep everyone safe and to have a full day of events and entertainment as in previous years. Next year will be a bumper Regatta!
However we are able to organise our sports, with extras, taking place on the school field, where there is plenty of space and ventilation!
We can adhere to the Cornwall Council guidelines for event organisers in protecting public health where people are gathering.
The sports will start at 2.30p.m as usual, on Sunday 29th. The free community bus will run from the corner of East Street from 1.45.
There will be a free barbecue and a treasure hunt, without sand, for the under 5’s .
We would love it if you came in fancy dress.
There will be cash prizes.
We hope the weather will be kind but if not we will hope for the best on Monday 30th.
EVENTS IN THE PICTURESQUE VILLAGE OF POLRUAN RUN THROUGHOUT AUGUST, LEADING TO POLRUAN'S OWN REGATTA WEEKEND, NEXT ON AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY 2022 (COVID PERMITTING)
Set within an historic shipbuilding village that dates back to the fourteenth century, the last pre-pandemic Polruan Regatta took place a week after the end of the Fowey Royal Regatta in 2019, under glorious sunshine.
We particularly enjoy welcoming and including visiting children and their families in our fabulous three-day celebration.
Not to be confused with its across-the-river counterpart and steeped with over one hundred years of Cornish tradition, all of the events during the Polruan Regatta are organised, marshalled and funded by the Polruan Regatta & Children's Sports Organisation. This is a voluntary organisation whose members give freely of their time and effort, with one singular charitable goal: to raise funds to benefit the interests of the children of the Parish of Lanteglos-by-Fowey.
The funds raised from this glorious affair enable the organisation to enhance the lives of children in the community with day trips, sporting events and even a visit from Father Christmas himself, amongst many other wonderful things.
