Everything you need for a wonderful trip: parking advice, ferry connections, dining, amenities, a live local overflow-monitor map, and clear water-safety guidance.
Car Parking
We recommend parking at the top of the village just past the welcome sign into Polruan at the Vevery Car Park, or subsequently further down to the right at St Saviour's Hill Car Park. Access to the Quay car park is restricted (less than 10 bays for deliveries, and closed entirely on Bank Holiday Monday).
Ferry Services
The Fowey-to-Polruan Passenger Ferry drops you directly onto Polruan Quayside and runs continuously throughout the day (approx 7:00am–11:00pm in summer). If driving from Fowey, the Bodinnick Car Ferry is 4 miles away and runs 7:00am–8:45pm in summer (view current ferry information).
Dogs Policy
Please note that dogs are strictly not allowed on Polruan Front Beach, the Old Coal Wharf, or the school playing field near the Vevery coastal path. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome along village footpaths and public roads.
Playground & Outdoor Gym
Situated at the top of the hill by St Saviour's Car Park, our children's playground boasts perhaps the most stunning view in the country! It features slides, monkey bars, swings, a roundabout, climbing frames, and a brand-new outdoor gym area. (Fenced-in, no dogs permitted).
Food & Refreshments
Delicious food, local ales, and cream teas are available from Willow’s Pantry, The Lugger Inn, and The Russell Inn.
Village Stores
Groceries, snacks, and daily essentials are available at The Polruan Store on Fore Street, and The Winklepicker store and Post Office on the Quayside.
Cash Machine / ATM
A cash machine is available inside The Winklepicker on the Quayside during Post Office opening hours. We advise bringing some cash for raffle tickets, ball roll numbers, and beach stalls.
Public Toilets
Public conveniences are conveniently located right on Polruan Quay, and also at the entrance to St Saviour's Car Park near the children's playground.
Programmes & Ball Roll
Programmes, official T-shirts, raffle tickets, and Tennis Ball Roll numbers are on sale at The Winklepicker, Polruan Store, and the East/Fore Street stall. All proceeds support our children's fund!
Beach Volleyball Entry
Entry forms for the annual Regatta Beach Volleyball tournament can be obtained over the counter at The Winklepicker, at our street stalls, or directly on the beach on competition day.

The village map above displays near-real-time Event Duration Monitor data used by SewageMap.co.uk, limited to Polruan, Fowey Harbour, and the River Fowey estuary.
Overflow status is not a bathing-water safety guarantee
An inactive monitor only means that monitor is not reporting a discharge. It does not prove that the water is free from pollution, and the feed can be delayed or unavailable. Conditions can also change with rainfall, tides, runoff, boats, wildlife, and other sources.
Fowey & Polruan overflow monitors
Use the Live Overflows filter on the village map. Red markers are reporting an active event, amber markers ended within the previous 48 hours, grey markers are offline, and green markers show no active or recent event. You can inspect the original monitor details on SewageMap.co.uk; SewageMap advises that its near-real-time data should not be used on its own to assess health risk at a specific location.
Environment Agency Swimfo
Check classifications, sampling results, and any current advice for designated bathing waters. Swimfo does not cover every beach or estuary access point.
RNLI Open-Water Safety
Check weather and tides, choose a suitable entry and exit point, go with a buddy, stay visible, know your limits, and carry a means of calling for help.
Before entering the water
Check the live overflow markers, recent rainfall, weather, tides, local signs, and the water itself. Do not enter water that looks or smells polluted, contains sewage debris, or is affected by a warning. Children should be closely supervised around the harbour and shoreline.
Emergency: call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard. If you unexpectedly enter cold water, float on your back, control your breathing, and call for help.
